Could you run every day during October?
In October the clothing company Ronhill are promoting a #RunEveryDay Challenge in honour of the runner Ron Hill, who has run every day since 20th December 1964 – in fact that’s a staggering 52 years of running...!
Ron Hill is undeniably one of the British all-time greats, having set world records at multiple distances, was the second man to break 2hrs 10min in the marathon and ran in 3 Olympic games. What’s more having met him on a number of occasions, he is most modest man who loves nothing more than inspiring the next generation of runners.
So throughout October, we will be giving the children an opportunity to run every lunchtime – at a distance that suits their ability. The children will also need to run every weekend too in order to complete the challenge. So we asking parents to help them record their running – digital photos or even using a sports app!
Therefore children who wish to take part will need to have trainers (plus suitable coat in case it rains) in school throughout the week.
As a ‘sporty’ school this is a great opportunity for mass sports participation regardless of ability. I and other staff members will be completing the challenge too so it’d great hear from parents or entire families who are up for the challenge.
