Saughall All Saints – Sport for ALL!

 

Saughall All Saints has been awarded the GOLD Kitemark for the third year running for outstanding PE across all areas of competition (Level 1, 2 and 3 of the School Games Pathway), inclusion, Leadership for young people, our PE curriculum and links with external clubs.

 

We also received the Achievement award for outstanding contribution to sport at the second ever Cheshire Schools Awards in July 2016 and were shortlisted for the same award for outstanding contribution to the performing arts with our dance competition group who were deserved National Dance Finalists 2017. We are very proud of this recognition for encouraging all of our children to lead healthy and active lives both now and in the future.

  • Year 5/6 Chester Schools Kwik Cricket – 13th May

 

  • Year 5/6 ‘B’ team Chester Schools Kwik Cricket – 14th May (am)

 

  • Year 5/6 Girls Chester Schools Kwik Cricket – 14th May (pm)

 

  • Year 5/6 Chester Schools Rounders Competition – 28th June

 

  • Chester Schools Athletics Competition – 6th July

 

Our School Sports Day will be held on Monday 11th June 2018 – KS1 (9am) KS2 (pm)

Sports Coaches:

Throughout the summer term we have decided to use some of the Government sports funding on employing specialist sports coaches to work with our children in all National Curriculum year groups.

Year 5/6 – Athletics

Year 3/4 – Cricket/rounders

Year 1/2 - Dance

Y1/2 – Cricket

This not only enables our children to access high quality PE lessons but it also upskills our teachers who observe and take part in the lessons alongside the children.

Spring Term 2018

An Enriched Sporting Curriculum of opportunities for all.

School Sports – Inter school competitions – spring term competitions:

  • Y5/6 Basketball Chester Schools Competition

Semi finalists – lost to eventual winners.

  • Y5/6 Athletics Chester Schools Competition

Overall Silver medallists finishing 2nd out of 26 schools

  • Y5/6 Basketball Hoops4Health Cheshire Phoenix Competition

Winners and through to the Grand Final in April

  • Y5/6 Hi 5 Netball Chester Schools Competition

Won 3 games and narrowly missed out on a semi-final place in the Chester schools competition.

  • Cross Country Fixtures – West Cheshire Athletics (Saturday mornings 3.318 and 24.3.8)

Superb performances with many children finishing in the top 10 spots in their age groups. Four children received medals for finishing in the top 3 spots in their race

  • Y5/6 Football competition – Chester Goals –

Silver medallists narrowly missing out on the winner’s title in the final.

  • The Great Big Dance Off 2018 – National Competition

Y3-6 Dance squad have reached the North West regional heats and are due to perform in Warrington on 23rd April to compete for a spot in the National Final later in the year.

  • Chester Schools Cross-country competition

Year 4 Boys and Girls – West Cheshire Cross Country Champions.

Autumn Term 2017 – Reviewed.

School Sports – Inter school competitions – autumn term competitions:

  • Tag Rugby – Chester Rugby Club – Y3 and Y4 mixed

An amazing afternoon of team sport by both our A and B teams competing in a fun tag rugby festival. The A team were undefeated all afternoon – the future for Tag Rugby at SAS is in good hands!

  • Tag Rugby mixed Y5/6- Chester Rugby Club

A terrific afternoon of sport despite the torrential rain! The A and B teams competed extremely well, both missing out on a semi-final place by just one try.

  • Saturday morning Cross-country Races – West Cheshire Athletics – Stanney Athletics Club

An amazing turn out of children from y3-6 on two Saturday morning x-country events showing true determination in cold, wet and windy conditions. There have been some superb individual performances with Gold, Silver and Bronze medals being won, along with personal bests and top ten finishes for a number of our runners.

 

  • Quick Sticks Hockey – Chester Schools Competition – Y5/6

The children competed extremely well in both the A and B competitions narrowly missing out on a semi-final spot in both sections. One of our y6 girls was scouted by Chester Hockey Club and has since attended a number of training sessions.

  • Chester Schools Girls Football competition –

The KS2 Girls football team competed in an after school competition held at The Catholic High School.

  • Basketball – Hoops4Health competition at EPSV and Cheshire Phoenix

They5/6 children took part in a Healthy Lifestyles Roadshow which included working with the professional basketball players on skills, healthy eating, smoking and drugs.

  • Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 mini kickers football competitions –

What an amazing achievement for our youngest members of the sporting team at Saughall All Saints. Each of our mini kickers teams did extremely well and the children all wore their ‘Badge with Pride.’ The reception mini kickers team came away as very worthy champions on the night – a fantastic achievement. One of our reception children was scouted by a football academy for their amazing skills on the football pitch – the future is bright!!
