Mr Jarvis

Welcome to the Autumn Term!

We are now encouraging the children to come into the classroom by themselves to develop their independence. Thank you for your support with this. 

What’s happening this term

Our topic this half term is ourselves; we will be talking about our families and friends. 

In maths we will be practising counting to 10 and beyond, learning how to form numbers correctly and looking at more and less. 

In reading and writing we will be looking at writing our names, labels and finding the initial sounds in words. 

There are lots of ways to support your child through these exciting first weeks

For example: 

  • supporting your child's independence by encouraging them to organise their own belongings in the mornings
  • encouraging early bed times 
  • getting to school in time for the bell at 8.40am
  • naming all items of clothing (including shoes) and water bottles 
  • talking to your child about their school experience (if they want to)

Class Rules

We promise to:

  • Help each other and be kind
  • Share and take turns
  • Show good manners
  • Follow instructions straight away
  • Keep hands and feet to ourselves
  • Tidy up after ourselves



Water bottles: 

Please make sure that only water is in water bottles. 


P.E will be on Wednesday or Thursday morning each week. Please ensure your child's P.E kit stays in school until the end of every half term. 

Book bags:

Letters will be sent home in book bags regularly. Please make sure that book bags come to school every day.

Class News

  • 05.11.18 - This week we will be talking about Bonfire Night, Dwali and Remeberance day. In Maths, we will be starting to learn the language of addition as we look at adding numbers to 10. The sounds that we will be learning in Phonics are: j, v, w and x and we will be continuing to practise reading the tricky words: to, go, no, and I.
